These terms govern your use of Kinbarrow.com, the chronicle, the modding reference, and, when it is released, the Kinbarrow game. By using any of those, you agree to them. If you do not, do not use the site or the game.

Who we are

The site
Kinbarrow.com is a website about a game in development. It has no accounts and takes no payments, and it has no contact form. You can read the pages, look at the modding reference, and, if you want letters about the game, subscribe to the chronicle by entering an email on the landing page.
The site is offered as-is. Pages move and copy changes while the game is being built, and features come and go with it. We may suspend or stop any part of it without notice.
The chronicle
The chronicle is a newsletter. Nothing is mailed until you confirm the address. You can unsubscribe from any letter, or email [email protected].
The game
Kinbarrow is not yet for sale. There is no store page and no announced date. When it ships, buying or downloading it will also be subject to the storefront's own terms (Steam's, if that is where it lands) and to these terms where they still apply.
The game is a work in progress. Saves may not load in a later build, and the worlds will change, with the rules along with them. An optional narrator may run a language model on your machine, or on any endpoint you already run; that traffic does not come to us, and you are responsible for how you run it.
Mods
The game is built to be modded. A mod you write is yours. Do not ship other people's work in a mod unless you have the right to. We may refuse or break a mod that does not load or that impersonates official content, and we may refuse one we simply do not want in a build we ship. Publishing a mod somewhere else, whether Discord, a workshop or your own site, is between you and that place.
What you may not do
Do not use the site or the game to:
- break the law, or try to;
- attack, scrape in a way that harms the host, or attempt unauthorised access;
- misrepresent yourself as us, or the project as affiliated with Wizards of the Coast;
- use the Kinbarrow name or mark on merchandise, or as the title of someone else's work, without asking.
Agents and crawlers are welcome to read the public pages. That is not permission to impersonate the project or to republish the site as your own.
Our rights, and other people's
The site, the game, and the original material in them are ours, or are used under licence. Kinbarrow is a trademark. An intent-to-use application has been filed; the mark is not registered.
Parts of the game use the System Reference Document 5.1 under CC-BY 4.0. The notice that licence requires is at /attribution. Dungeons & Dragons, D&D, and Wizards of the Coast are trademarks of Wizards of the Coast LLC. Kinbarrow is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or approved by Wizards of the Coast.
Third parties
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. The chronicle is sent by Buttondown. Community links on the site go to Discord, Reddit and X, which have their own terms. We are not responsible for those services.
No warranty
The site and the game are provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, including that they will be available, accurate, uninterrupted or fit for a particular purpose, to the fullest extent the law allows.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for any loss of data, saves, goodwill or profits, arising from your use of the site or the game. If we are nevertheless found liable, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us for the game in the twelve months before the claim, which, until there is a store page, is nothing.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded: death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability the law does not let us limit.
Changes
If these terms change, this page and the date at the top are updated. The page is versioned in the same repository as the site, so its history is public. Continued use after a change is acceptance of the new terms.
